Now waiting 4 months for Celexa to kick in

Posted by rod on January 6, 2002, at 11:47:15

Hello all,

I do not know what to do. I am now waiting 4 months for Celexa to kick in and nothing comes. I also started low dose of anafranil (1 month). Is it possible that an SSRI does not help me? (took Prozac for one year without improvement. It might even worsened my anxiety).

What should I try next?
(except visiting a local self helping group (do not know the english word for it, but I hope you understand what I mean) and trerapy. Both things I do)

Do people respond to Effexor if they had little to no response to a SSRI?

thanks
bye

What dose are you on. I was on 40 with good results for two years but went off and now I am working up toward 80 trying for the same or better effect. My pdoc treats people with over 100 mg. celexa. If you've only been at 20 mg. for much of that 4 months that may not be trial enough. Also when my 40 didn't work great before we added adderall and wellbutrin and that helped it alot. Edward

hi Edward! I am on 40 mg. But I do not know if adding adderall and wellbutrin is the right thing for me too, but thanks for the info. I have asked for Buspar, but my Doctor does not know if this is good as an augmentation, and decided to wait for the next two weeks. But I have this feeling of beeing not well treaten by meds. So should I insist of getting an augmentation?

Try something that is not an SSRI. There is no reason to go to polydrug treatment till you have tried several different classes of meds as single thearpy.
