I have been on Effexor XR for about a month, and have just increased to 225 mg. I have had problems with anorgasmia with every SSRI I've taken (and there have been a lot). I was switched to Effexor because Zoloft pooped out on me.
My doctor told me that his patients on Effexor do not have the sexual side effect that are reported with SSRI's. After reading some posts on this board the sexual problmes do not seem as prevalant on Effexor as other drugs. However, I am still experiencing anorgasmia, even worse than when I was on a low dose of Zoloft. What are others' experience with Effexor XR and sexual dysfunction? Did this side effect go away in time?
Thank you! Bissie

Bissie - I have had no problems with sexual dysfunction at any dose (up to 450mg, currently 225mg) of Effexor XR™ (venlafaxine). Maybe, I had a little problem finishing during upward titration of the dose, but I was so depressed that sex wasn't foremost on my mind. (no comments Greg!)
It took me almost 3 months to get to the 225mg/day dose of Effexor. Your doc is titrating your dose fairly quickly. This could affect your libido &/or dull your trigger. I would not worry about the anorgasmia until you have been taking a stable dose of Effexor for about a month. This will give your body a chance to adjust to the drug properly.
Good luck - Cam
