How to kick a quick hyrdo habit, will my tolerance

Posted by PotBelliedMike on December 10, 2001, at 1:36:09

This is a very informative forum, hopefully you can spread your knowledge in my direction, I havea question about a quick hyrdocodone habit I'm possibly forming.

It started just a few months back after a car wreck.
Back problems persisted and I began taking lortab 10's during late August. In the past coule of months I've began taking several a day.

It seems like when I take several at a time I experience a "buzz" of sorts but it doesn't help my pian much more. In fact if I level out the doseage, I have a good all round feeling, no pain and don't get anxious.

I'd like to kick this habit before it gets out of hand.
What can I do, although it's only been a few months I still feel almost addicted to the pills. I've never been addicted to anything previously, never drank that much, hell, I've never smoked.

They give me a good feeling, enough energy to complete my daily tasks without worrying, bithcing and moaning about back pain.

So what should I do?

1.) Drop my dosage for a few days and rebuild my tolerance level? Is this possible? I have heard that pain pill tolerance fluxiates at a fast rate in some cases. For instance, I stopped cut down to 1 pill a day for about 4 days. On the 4th day I took 3 pills at one time because I messed my back by picking up a crapload of books at school. I was almost sick, very nauseated, a super buzz that wasn't fun at all. In fact I wish I'd never done that.

2.) Try to ween myself off by slowing down the dosage. Try working out again, strengthening my back and getting my mind off of the addiction I think I may be occuring(I've heard that working has helped someone to overcome a short term addiction, the author had a 5 year abuse).

Anyone who has had expeience please help. I have also read about buphernoral(sp?). Will this help also?

Basically, I have been taking these since late summer, along with Celebrex to cure my back and joint paiun incured from the wreck. After taking the tabs, I feel mentally aware and have energy. Is this a bad thing?
I'd like to slim down to 2 pills at most a day instead of the 4-5 I use now. Hopefully I can take one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Is this possible to happen with the same effects I feel now?

Thanks in adavance folks,
Pot Bellied Mike
