Information about Trazodone please.

Posted by Else on November 12, 2001, at 17:21:38

Right now, I am taking Ritalin (60mg die) and Klonopin (3mg die). I have pretty much given up on sleep at this point. My doctor has prescribed Desyrel (trazodone) a few months ago to take "as needed" for insomnia. I only endend up taking a few pills because although it did make me sleep, I woke up feeling terrible ( nausea, headaches,etc...).

Last year however, I did take Desyrel for about a month and as I recall the nasty side effects eventually subsided. I am willing to give it another try at this point. I just need to know:

1)Is is safe to take with Ritalin? I read it might not be but the details as to why were unclear.

2)Is it safe to take Dramamine and Tylenol with codeine the next day to make the nausea and headaches go away?
3)Do the nasty side effects mean I am hyper-sensitive to the drugs? The only contra-indication to this drug seems to be "hyper-sensitivity" to it but what does that mean?

Thank you.

Thank you Sigolène. I think SSRIs would make me feel better than Desyrel so I believe I will go go for these. Thanks.
