Hi all- does anyone experience this? Our pdoc said that doses under at least 100-120mg do not work- my son is at a dose of 160. I am curious to know what your experiences are. Thanks, Karen Curtis

I assume that you are talking about Geodon as an AP, for which it was intended. I hope folks will tell WHAT they are taking Geodon for. I am taking it to augment Prozac for depression and at just 40mg a day it seems to be "working" for me. I am seeing my pdoc in a week to learn if I should up the dose as it is keeping me quite stable but not helping with energy or motivation in the way that Zyprexa did, even at 2.5mg. Collette

I have been on Geodon for 5 weeks and my mood has been very stable. I am not as irritable - temper is better. I am functioning better in my house, but I am still very lethargic and unmotivated to leave the house. I still hate to brush my teeth, do my hair and makeup and little things like that. For what is costs me, I am unsure if I will stay on Geodon ( I have no insurance for "mental" illness)since I am sure that another AD in addition to my Prozac might work at least as well as this. I decided to augment the Prozac because it pooped out and for ME, this change isn't enough, but it IS helping, I am sure of that.

Thanks, Karen CurtisHmm... 160mg seems to be awfully high of a dosage, has your doctor ever questioned you about heart problems in your family?? i have been taking 20mg a night, and I just got upped to 40, did your son start on 160mg? I just have a hard time fathoming this...
I don't have any knowledge that geodon will not work affectively even at 20mg's, but I suppose it depends on what symptoms your son has... What was the geodon perscribed for?

I see, thats why I was curious as to what is was perscribed for. There are many people on this board, such as my self who take it as an augmentor to other anti-depressants... And these dosages usually hover around the 20-40 mg range...

Complicated!!! Karen.
