Topamax, Itching and a Zoloft Question to boot!

Posted by blondemomints on November 4, 2001, at 16:30:12

Its me again....

After 10 days I have reached the following doseage on this combo:

Topamax 50 mg (twice a day)
Zololft 50 mg (once a day)

However I am experiencing itching (and I know that's a side effect of Topamax) although I have not noticed a rash but today (Sunday) is the very first day of going up on my doseage. I really want to stick with this med to help with my moods because of the problems I already have with weight. I've been trying "Aveeno" lotion (with virtually no success with the itching), does anyone know of something stronger I can try?

I'm still seeing my irritability rearing it's ugly head more often than not and I know that Zoloft is likely to increase anxiety, right?

Zoloft is also interferring with my sleep. My pdoc rx'd Ambien 10 mg and I take it each night and it worked like a dream for about a week but now it's taking longer to fall asleep and boom 4 hours later, I am wide awake!!

Any thoughts or suggestions to any of the above whining?

:-) God Bless,
Robin

> I had a terrible time with irritability, etc. on Welbutrin, and with anxiety on Prozac at the very beginning. I dropped Welbutrin immediately it was so bad. The Prozac I was able to handle. We also upped my stabilizer (Topamax at the time) and that helped.

If the irritability doesn't get better quickly, I'd call your doc and firmly suggest a switch. From what I've seen on the board, if it starts out with that side effect, (anger), it's not a good match.
