Which ant convulsants have the best anti panic effects with the least side effects......especially sexual. I am on klonopin daily which works fine....should I stay put or try depakote or neurontin.....I have used xanax for over 3 years and still think it works great but the ups and downs of dosing suck. Klonopin seems smoother but more sedating and is giving me some minor sexual difficulties....nothing I probably could not live with....Would depakote or neurontin be as smooth as klonpin without sexual sedativie effects?

Having tried them all, I would suggest staying on the klonopin and discuss the sexual side-effects with your pdoc- maybe a doseage adjustment is in order. Depakote has a myriad of side-effects and is indicated more for bipolar than panic. Neurontin has some anti-anxiety effects in some people and no real side effects, so it may be worth a try. If you have panic disorder, klonopin and xanax are the best meds.- judy
