Effexor Help

Posted by Todd D on October 30, 2001, at 10:45:04

I just started on 37.5 of Effexor five days ago for depression/anxiety and was wondering how long this stuff takes to kick in? I am still feeling very depressed due to a recent personal situation. After the first week I am to go to 75. What does this stuff actually do to you? All I am feeling right now is tired and sweaty. Is there any help upcoming and if so how long?

> Hi,

my doctor started me on 75mg, i actully felt euphoric the first day....it definately lifted my depression in the week i took it. However i felt like a zombie and as though i couldn't communicate with people. I also heard some bad stuff about withdrawal, so i decided to stop and persauded my doc to put me on prozac. I think the 75mg dose was too high for me to start with, but you have started on a lower dose, so perhaps your depression will lift more gradually. Effexor is supposed to be one of the fastest acting anti depressants, but apparently it can take up to 4 weeks for the benefits to be felt.good luck !!!

The first 5 days was the most difficult.
After that -I was really feeling a whole ton better.
Waking early and wanting to excersize etc.
Did feel really tired the first 5 days...
And had a hard time driving etc.
All that subsided for me after the first 5 days.
Totally feel normal and great.
I started on 75mG.
