I have been taking Nortrip since Monday night and have not noticed and unpleasant side effects so far, only that when I take it at night there is a point at which I am like a sleepwalker or dazed-and-confused, although present in some sense. I've had conversations, with my eyes wide open, where I couldn't remember the topic, or why I was saying what I was saying, and not remembering the last 10 minutes at all.
I've noticed a slight increase in energy, but I'm thinking placebo effect.

I have had this effect on Nortiptyline. One suggestion, and I don't know if it is best or helpful in your situation, is to divide the dose 2x's a day, both with a good meal. I generally find to tolerate meds better after a meal, just because I feel a bit more comfortable after a good meal. YMMV..of course.
There is a lesser-known med similar to Nortriptyline, called Protriptyline. It is a bit more stimulating, and you usually take it in the morning or no latter then noon.
Nortiptyline does have a bit of both a energizing and sedating effect. One other thing too. I have some Medline abstracts that indicate weight loss as a *potential* on both Nortriptyline and Protriptyline. I lost a fair amount of weight on Nortriptyline, and was on it for a long time. (Mind you, I had gained plenty from many psych drugs over the years.) The only reason I didn't stay with it was because of the sleep problems it caused me. I may end up going back to it at some time, though. If my pdoc at the time was more open to benzo's, I would have just added a good benzo.
I would highly suggest if you find the med helping, stick with it, and work with your doc on any side effects.
Best wishes..
Jay
