I seem to be developing some problems when I smoke cigarettes. I've been taking Depakote (750 mg a day) for about three months. I've been getting dizzy and sick to my stomach when I smoke. Am I the only one who has this problem, and is it normal? I guess I should quit, HUh?

I have a friend who was on Wellbutrin and Depakote a few years ago. His doctor told him not to smoke, but, of course he did anyway...
I lived in a dorm at that time, and we'd go downstairs to the smoking lounge sometimes for a cigarette. Once he got halfway through his and then started laughing for no discernable reason. I stared at him with a raised eyebrow until he recovered enough to say, "You just turned into a big gray elephant."
I assure you I'm very much a primate.
Anyway, I don't remember him complianing about feeling sick to his stomach (though I think I do remember him saying he got dizzy) after he smoked, but do I have a feeling that depakote and nicotine aren't a feel-good combination.

I just started smoking lightly (about 2 a day) after about 10 years of non-smoking. I also take Depakote, 1000 mg. I'm not having any trouble, and my pdoc didn't seem concerned (except, of course, that he told me I shouldn't smoke. :) )
He thinks I may have subconsciously picked it up again as a stimulant b/c I'm having trouble with sedation.
