Has anyone heard of this Pdoc?

Posted by MM on August 23, 2001, at 0:53:43

Dr. Steven Dubvosky in Denver? I live close enough to see him, and I guess he has a good reputation, but I was wondering if anyone has gone to him personally, or know someone who has, and what they thought of him?

No one's heard of Steven Dubvosky? (np)

Yes, I saw him...very intelligent, but I don't know if I agree with his diagnosis. He wanted me on mood stabilizers, but all of them make me feel extremely depressed. I think I am mostly unipolar not BPII. He'll give you a thorough write up.

Thanks. I appreciate it. (np) » katrina

I have been to Dr. Dubvosky for a consultation. He seems to be very well regarded in Colorado. I am not aware that he actually works with patients, however. I believe he only provides a one-time second opinion.

Any Pdoc recommendations in CO?

Just wondering if anyone has found what they consider to be a really good psychiatrist in Colorado? How long did it take to get in to see Dr. Dubvosky? What was the appointment with him like? I wish I could mention who my pdoc is to see if anyone has seen him and what they thought, but I'm scared he reads this board :-}.
Thanks for the responses.

Dr. D. does consults only. If you don't have a regular pDoc he can provide
referrals in your area. Just call Peggy, his assistant. My sister found a really good
pDoc for my bipolar nephew that way. I have seen him four times in the past ten
years. He is Colorado's most highly regarded pDoc. Phone: 303-270-8481. He
also is on the cutting edge as far as research goes and is very personable. He was
the chair of psychiatry at UCHSC. I don't know if that is still the case. He has
never come up empty handed with new approaches to my treatment resistance.
One advantage of seeing him is that your regular pDoc may be willing to try
unconventional treatment approaches when they see it in writing from him. For
example, I was prescribed Buprenorphine at one point due to his
recommendation. It does take 3-4 months to get in. Sometimes there are
cancellations. Last fall I couldn't make my appt. and gave it to a friend on less than
24 hours notice. I live on the other side of the big hill, so getting there can be a
pain, like in February when I drove to Glenwood and I-70 was closed for five
hours.
If you don't mind, where do you live in Colorado?

Blessings,

Chris A.

Don't know if you're still looking, but several years ago I saw a Dr. William ("Bill") Phillips in Denver but only for therapy. I liked him.
