interupted sleep/frequent urination/hotflash

Posted by susan C on August 6, 2001, at 13:38:01

Ok, Mood swings, dramatically for first time since starting depakote 8 months ago (first thing to work at all for some time), coincided with early waking (waking every hour from 3am, also hot flashes, and urination each time I wake. It feels a lot like diruetic effect. I had have control of hotflashes before and not had this early waking problem. I also take Ambien that has worked great for 8 months. Does it stop working? I started Keppra last week, but these symptoms started 3 weeks ago and seem to be increasing. So far, menopause, hotflashes seem to be most likely explanation, but I have controlled those before so don't understand why it would be happening. Does anyone have names for what I am experiencing? What type of doctor can look at symptoms? Thanks for input.

I don't think I'm going to be much help because I'm taking Lamictal and Topamax, not Depakote, but I can offer some sympathy. Since starting Lamictal, I am up every few hours, also have to go to the restroom (or maybe I just do because I'm up?). Perhaps it's a side effect that goes away? I don't know. It's not good.

If you don't get enough info from this post. Keep trying. Sometimes it takes a few.
