Alternative to effexor?

Posted by Stef on July 26, 2001, at 17:01:25

Hello,
Does anyone have any suggestions for a med that works similarly to effexor but won't give me the sweats? Other than the sweating being a major problem, the effexor works great. But I will be stopping because of the sweating. Is there anything you guys would recommend that is similar to effexor but won't make me sweat like crazy? How about celexa or wellbutrin?
I see my doctor in a couple of weeks,so suggestions are seriously welcome. I have clinical depression with anger, and I would love some ideas from those of you who have been there.
Thanks so much! Stef

You could have your doctor prescribe you some Urecholine, a cholinergic medication that gets rid of sweating, dry mouth, constipation, etc. I say that because it would be a shame to quit something that works so well (you may never find something else that works as well).

Good points made by Sal, I had the sweats from a med (think it was prozac), before anyone knew that is what caused it, I used double cotton mattress pads, sheets and pjs, no polyester for me!
