Maybe its been a few days since I've taken Remeron, it was monday night, and typcially I don't take anything to sleep over the weekend because I don't care if I sleep well or not since I don't have to be anywhere the next day, but my typical dosage of Remeron, 15mg just totally wiped me out this morning... I know its been said again and again, but wow... It seems like it doesnt make me -too- sleepy the night before, but I sure am sleepy the next morning... Plus I alternate it w/ Ambien, so Im sure that its just that I'm not getting used to the Remeron...
I know it says that you shouldnt split the SolTab but I'm thinking of taking a razorblade and carving one in too, maybe that will prevent me from oversleeping an hour like I did this morning... I just -couldnt- get out of bed....

>I didn't get used to Remeron even after two weeks at 30mg and one at 60mg. I could get out of bed ok, but if I stopped moving during the morning for more than a few minutes I'd start nodding off. Fortunately I had a job that kept me relatively active. Still, I was really disappointed that I couldn't deal with the side-effects of the stuff, 'cause on paper it looks like such a uniquely wonderful antidepressant.
But maybe you should try a week of taking it alone, and see if you get used to it. Or move up to 30mg: a dosage increase is supposed to mitigate the daytime sedation side-effects. I know you're just taking it as a sleep-aid, but it and Effexor are supposed to make a great antidepressant combo (if I remember correctly what else you're taking).
Best,

Good advice, i may try that, good memory too, I am taking effexor... the bonus for me w/ remeron is that it does make a powerful combo w/ effexor, and as a skinny kid, i can do w/ the increased appetite... i've gained 5 pounds so far, the most ive increased in years...
take care.

I just -couldnt- get out of bed....I took Remeron for a long time as a sleep aid. I would use a sharp knife to cut the 15mg pill into halves. I could never get exact sizes, but that doesn't matter. Anything close to 7.5mg is good enough. Sometimes I even took little chunks as small as 2.5mg or 5.0mg and it worked great for sleep. With these lower doses, there was no daytime sedation the next day. I always did wake up with that fuzzy hangover kind of feeling, but it always disappeared by the time I went for my second cup of coffee.
I just wanted to let you know from personal experience that you can indeed take smaller doses of Remeron. Just break the pill with a hammer and take custom sized chunks, or use a knife to cut it in halves, thirds, or quarters.
