I have been on Effexor for 2 weeks now, and have noticed a considerable weight loss. My doc didnt want me on Paxil because of the weight gain symptom, and said the Effexor had less of a chance for weight gain......but the Effexor is sure taking a long time to kick in. I also have really been trying to get to the gym on a regular basis during this change of meds, due to the fact that it increases the endorphines and lessens the pains of depression.

That happened to me too when I first started taking it: my appetite was already low (due to depression) but the Effexor made it worse. The side effect goes away with a little time; in the meantime, try to eat what you're able even if you don't feel hungry.
