Are you still taking buprenorphine?
As it has such a short response time,is the antidepressant
effect dependant on one's current blood level of the
drug, or is there an extended period (at least several
weeks)before one crashes after discontinuing it?

Yes.

> weeks)before one crashes after discontinuing it?If you don't take the next dose on schedule, you're liable to get depressed again within hours. As such, I think the best way to use it is in combination with one of the standard ADs.

I lose interest in sex when I'm depressed, so buprenorphine was very helpful to me in that regard. It didn't seem to cause any sort of sexual dysfunction.
