First let me say thanks for the help i've received so far I don't know where else to turn.
I stopped effexor xr at 150mg about 6 days ago. I had three days of no meds and i was a wreck. That all too familar dizzy fuzzy, electric feeling but i also had the most horrible nightmares! I had strange dreams while on effexor but none like when i stopped. I started wellbutrin three days after being off effexor and i almost instantly felt sick and like i wanted to bite someone's head off. My doc didn't do any gradual dosing it was staight to 150mg 2xday. I've felt sick a couple hours after taking each dose to the point of throwing up. I haven't taken the wellbutrin this morning and i am not irritated but still feeling a little sick. Are these symptoms withdrawal from the effexor or are they from the wellbutrin. Honestly i think i feel better without any of this in my system.

Wellbutrin: Take it with at least a little food. I used to throw up too, when I tried to take it on an empty stomach. If you're comfortable regulating your own meds, you also might like to taper on, dose ONCE/day for a week and THEN TWICE/day. Wellbutrin doesn't require a big taper period, but side-effects will definately be stronger if you don't!

You're going to get different side-effects, tho, I was on Wellbutrin alone not during withdrawals from Effexor. Effexor w/d's are miserable, give it at least a week to get over Effexor before you give up. Effexor w/d's will take a wk or so to go away altogether, and can include dizziness nausea, twitches, fluish feelings, etc.
Hang in there...

Honestly i think i feel better without any of this in my system.I had withdrawal effects from effexor for over a month but it was mostly muscle pain and migraines. I've been on Wellbutrin on and off many times (right now I am on). I first used it as Zyban to effectively quit smoking. The second time I got on it it made me hypomanic, I didn't sleep for several days and practically wrote a novel in a week-end. My thoughts were racing and I was positively ecstatic (BTW I am not diagnosed as bipolar). The second time, I also went completely insane but this time I almost became psychotically depressed, spent several days in my room, crying, not sleeping, my mind racing but thinking about how worthless I and my whole life was. I wanted to crawl to the nearest clinic and beg some doctor for sleeping pills but I didn't think I would make it. Other times I gave up because the shakiness was too much for me. Finally I did start at a low dose (100mg a day), went up to 200mg for a few weeks then 300mg, all along taking clonazepam and temazepam to controls the shakes and the insomnia. I'm not sure if the insanity I went through is actually hypomania or rather, related to some form of seizure activity but it was pretty heavy anyway. Now Wellbutrin actually helps me sleep and I have no side effects but I do recommend asking your doctor for some benzodiazepines to make it through the first week.

being on 150mg and going cold turkey sounds brutal. i ran out of one of my meds and couldn't get it for about three days, and my headaches were out of control. ween off of them. take them every other day for a week or two, then every three days. i would rather kick a heroin habit then go off my meds cold turkey... (not that i know what heroin detox feels like, but I am sure it sucks.)
that is a high dose of wellbutrin to start at. i started at 100 mg slow release, once a day, and i wanted to bite heads off. i found that wellbutrin did not work for me. it made me agressive and agitated, which my doctor said was a possible side effect. wellbutrin also has weight loss side effects, which is why you want to throw up. i could not eat when i took it either.i tried it for about a month, but my urge to cut people off in traffic and yell at them was not good for me. try something different.
