topamax

thank you to all who have responded. I am feeling better about taking topamax and hope the side effects if any are minimal.

The neurologists plans to increase the dosage about 25mg every 2 weeks after this first week. This week I'll go from 25 to 50. He says if I find I'm headache free at 150mg than we'll stop there.

So far (and it's only been since Weds) I've not woken up with a headache and if one start during the day it wasn't as bad. It appears the med is helping.

Thanks again

I just went up to 50 mg. too. I'm bipolar I, I am also having severe headaches. I'm glad to hear yours are improving. Mine are getting worse each day. Aside from that, my mood seems to be much more stable after only a week on this drug. The only side effect I've had is leg pain, my joints, my knees are swollen and it hurts like hell to bend them. I found a solution for that problem, though. Aleve. It really helps a lot. The difference is drastic. Anyway, good luck, and keep me informed of your progress with this drug, and I'll do the same!!
