I'm taking 150 twice a day. It didn't seem to start working until I hit the higher dose.

These are high doses, although not all that uncommon with Effexor as it is often prescribed when an SSRI has stopped working.

If you were taking the XR form you may need a lower dose than you would overwise but from what I have read it is usually necessaary to reach doses of 75mg twice daily or higher and at higher doses it has wider and more powerful effects on multiple neurotranmsitters.

You are right ... Prozac 80mg stopped working so it's the FXR XR and 450 mg Wellbutrin

I have been on FXR for about three months now. About three or four weeks ago I thought I was having another meltdown. I needed releif I needed something that would stop the slide into the pits again. I called my pdoc for help. She told me to slowly get off the FXR and start the Prozac again. I really didn't want to get back on Prozac so I held out with the FXR. Today I'm glad I did. I'm feeling pretty good and am not having any side effects.

I'm on Effexor XR 300mg and have relief from depression and anxiety 28 days out of 30 but still have obsessive thoughts about my health about 29 days out of 30! Would a higher dose work to take those away. When I was on Prozac, the obsessive thoughts were nonexistent but I stopped because I was too tired.

Thanks,

Jocor

I believe the maximum venlafaxine dose is higher than one might have thought: http://www.dr-bob.org/tips/split/Maximum-venlafaxine-dosage.html
