i was recently diagnosed with PTSD and major depression. i started prozac about 10 days ago and have NO energy. sleeping 9+ hours a night and need a nap during the day.... i was also prescribed klonopin for anxiety which i take 1/2 of every other night. could my lack of energy just be because of the klonopin? or should i just try taking prozac at night?

SSRI's can do that (of which Prozac is one!).
Tell your dr and ask if you should try taking the Prozac before bed.
I know nothing about Klonopin, but I know that Prozac could do that all by itself!sl

I have been taking prozac and xanax together for almost 10 years. Xanax and Klonopin are from the same drug family, I have read that Klonopin is like an extended relief form of Xanax. Xanax has a short life, and needs to be taken about every 4-6 hours.
I was instructed by my doctor and pharmicist to take prozac early in the morning to prevent it from affecting my sleep. But everyone's body chemistry is different. I do know that benzodiazepines affect the central nervous system. I recently told my doctor that I felt like life was a flat line for me. He told me that the prozac was numbing my emotions and the xanax was calming my nervous system. The combination can make you feel like you have no energy. I am now trying effexor xr. I may not be responding to the prozac as well as I used to. For many years I was able to cope with having no energy but recently I decided to take control and see what other options there were for me. Try taking both of the medications at night. You might have a carry over effect in the morning that might last well into the morning, but if you have a schedule where this does not matter, then you can experiment with what might work best for you.
Just my opinion.

I'm having the same problem with Celexa, which I recently switched to from Paxil, so my doc has me take the Celexa at night. I also take Klonopin and switched that to night time also, but my doc thinks that because I've taken Klonopin for so long I may be "immune" to it and it's not helping me sleep or with my anxiety like it used to.
Just like we have to experiment/trial and error with the meds, we also have to do this with the time/when we take them. Try taking Prozac at night, first a few hours before bed time to try to ward off morning "hangover" or maybe at bedtime if morning hangover is not a problem. Good luck!

I had the same problem while i was on prozac. Talked to my pdoc about that and made me switch medication: i'm currently taking amytrpiline. (a TCA). That is my personal experience though: everyone is different: Prozac made me so sleepy i could barely do anything.
