Weaning off of Effexor XR 150 mg.

Posted by Autumn Despotis on June 11, 2001, at 16:23:53

I remember reading somewhere that you can take the capsules apart and separate the granules inside to lessen the dosage.
Does anyone know anything about this? I need to start doing this asap!

Thanks,
Autumn

*blink* I sure hope you're not doing this without help, given your recent posts. *worry*

BUT...what _I_ did was very gently pull and twist until it starts to slide apart, VERY gently cuz it'll be just about full to the top of the inner edge. Then I dumped half the grains into one empty clear capsule and half into another. (you can get empty capsules at a health-food store or co-op). Don't count them cuz they're not all the same size, just eyeball it and try to divide into equal piles.

>Thanks! I'll try that. Don't worry, my new doc actually suggested it. She said Effexor was making my mania worse. I agree, now that I've thought about it.
I know I'm not very stable these days, but hopefully, some of that will change. It is so good to know that there are people out there, like you, that actually care about whether a perfect stranger lives or dies. You're awesome for that!
I'll start the weaning process tomorrow, and I'll let you know how it goes!
Wish me luck, pray for me, do anything you can!!!
I think I'll need it!

*blush* I try. Sometimes I get really caught up in my own misery, but you seemed SO much more miserable than me... :/

Good luck with the weaning...
