I was on 60 mg Celexa for a year without any nausea. Now I had to switch to Zoloft because the Celexa wasnt enough effective and made too sedated. I tappered the celexa down during too weeks. Suddenly i began to have awful nausea coming and going all the time, flu like symptoms, lethargy... I am not sure if it comes of the zoloft or its a withdrawl of the celexa ? Now it persists since about 10 days.
I tried to stop the zoloft or increasing the dosage but nothing gave me a better feeling or a hint what it could be. I Think the symptoms started before i began with the zoloft but since then they i didnt improved. My doc said that if its a withdrawl the zoloft could improve it because of the same mechanism. Perhaps the nausea is caused of the dopamine action of Zoloft too ? Is it a awful side-effect of Zoloft ?
Any ideas, suggestions or experiences ?
Thanks

60 mg Celexa is a high dose; weaning down should take at least 5 or 6 weeks; stay on low Zoloft [not over 25 mg]. Take a little more Celexa and wean down cause you are having big time withdrawal effects. Sorry you're not feeling well. Hope it gets better soon, I'm sure it will.

Thanks for your reply. Why do you mean not going higher with the Zoloft than 25 mg?
My doc had one who tappered down from 200 mg (!) Celexa in 10 days without any problems! He suggested me to increase the Zoloft to overcome the withdrawl.

I mean in the beginning while you are going off Celexa; start at 25 mg Zoloft for a while [first week or 10 days] Yes, many people find Zoloft to work at 75mg thru 200 mg, depending on the person, but buildup should come gradually; easier on the tummy. Good luck.

I am off the celexa for about a week and i dont want to go back because i want to get rid of this med which didnt give me a remission. Now i am on 50 mg Zoloft for 2 days (after 10 days on 25 mg) without any change in my symptoms (nausea, pain in the limbs...)
How long will a withdrawl last (read of max. 3 weeks ?).

I believe you are still in a little Celexa withdrawl. Hopefully within a week you should start to feel a little better. Celexa is touch to come off quickly like most of the SSRI's. I hope Zoloft works well for you. Hang in there.

Do you have experiences with Zoloft ? I hope it will do something for my melancholic mood and hopelessness. Celexa had a anesthetic like or numbing effect on 100 mg which i didnt like and I felt to much sedation. I always wanted to know how the feeling would be without any drugs (because i sometimes thought taking drugs made me depressed). Now I am on a small dose of Zoloft and the depression worsened since i had to tapper down with all my meds (Celexa 60 mg and 4 mg Edronax). It isnt a try worth ! I have tried Surmontil, Celexa, Efexor, Remeron without remission and unbearable side-effects. I hate that trials with meds who are giving a lot of side-effects and perhaps a little benefit after weeks.......whats a try worth ? Zoloft ?

Zoloft works well for some people. You have to give it 6 or 7 weeks [sometimes it works in 3 weeks]. Personally, for me Prozac works better, but we are all different. Also, just something to kick around; when weaning off an AD, Prozac [10 mg] is given to help the withdrawl effects from the original AD because of it's long half life. This is what I took weaning off Zoloft after 6 weeks; on week 7 tapering down Zoloft I started Prozac and felt better within a week. Try the Zoloft and see how it works for you. I know it's frustrating, but when you find the right med[s] it's like a whole new life. Good luck.
