Is it best to take Celexa in the morning or at night?

If you have the same problems with it that I did, if you take it at night you will NEVER get to sleep, particularly if you have any sort of anxiety going on in your life. The Celexa increased my anxiety 5 fold and, even when it didn't, it had me climbing up walls all day and all night.

Try it during the day first. There's nothing worse than not getting enough sleep when you're dealing with issues that would cause you to be taking anti-depressants. The only good thing I can say about the sleep part is that the Celexa had me so amped up during the day that my body (if not necessarily my mind) was exhausted by the end of the day, so I'd fall into a "coma-like" deep sleep... better than no sleep at all....

> It's just still so bizarre to me how different we all are! Celexa sedates me so I take it at night. I think it's best to arrange to have a day or two off when you start around the weekend if possible.

I also experienced no other side effects except some sexual dysfunction at 40 mg.

Everyone reacts differently. My only advice is, if you react very badly, don't wait the full four to six weeks some folks advise. There are so many other options and I feel your body's telling you something if you're having a really bad "trip" initially (I wasted a lot of time and grief on Serzone and Zyprexa because of the "need for things to kick in").

Good luck!

I too take Celexa, 40 mg., every night an hour before retiring. I found it made me a bit spacy when I took it in the morning. I now have almost no noticeable side effects (I do have trouble sleeping but cannot say for sure that Celexa is the cause, or that it would be any different taken in the morning, as Celexa has a 30 hour half-life).
