Has anyone noticed a bizarre reaction between topamax (or anyone new stabilizer I guess ) and wine? I haven't had any problem having a few beers with my regime but if I have even a glass of wine I become bizarrely disoriented. My husband found me in a room the other night talking to myself and complaining about the state of the universe (true I had been in a hypomanic state but it hadn't been that bad).
Just curious.

Hi K,
No problems with wine and lithium and topamax. At most, I have drunk about 3 glasses of wine (450 ml). Mind you, I'm not having any problems with hypomania either.

Janice:
Thanks for your response! I was wondering if these anti-convolusants (sp?) might have a problem interacting with the same things MAO Inhibitors do, such as wines and cheeses, but I eat plenty of stinky cheese with no problem. I guess it was just me being manic me.
