Withdrawal from Effexor XR

Posted by cle on March 31, 2001, at 22:54:24

Hi,
I have recently, 5 days now, gone off of Effexor XR. I am now experiencing the withdrawal symptoms. Can anyone tell me how long these symptoms last? Any words of advice to get through them? Thanks in advance.

Hang in there. I had symptoms for about 3 weeks and at times, felt like they were never going to end, but they did! From what I have read, withdrawal from this drug varies a great deal for each individual.

I took Advil for the constant headaches but nothing worked for my severe GI symptoms (including bad stomach pain.) The only other thing that seemed to help me cope was to get outside and walk in the sunshine. Moderate exercise inside or outside was also helpful.

What specific withdrawal symptoms are you having?

Look into benadryl for symptoms, and the new less-drowsy dramamine is pretty cool.

I must agree motion sickness meds such as dramamine helps out alot. I took the dramamine with less drowsiness and I was able to stomach eating.

I am totally going to try the dramamine! Or even Benadryl. I knew this message board might help with something. I stopped taking Effexor about nine days ago. Awful symptoms still. Have you tried the dramimine or benadryl yourself? I have no bouts with trying this. But I'm on Adderall now for ADD (something I should have been diagnosed with fromt he beginning). Benadryl seems pretty inocuous though. I doubt that it would affect the Adderall too much. Hmmmm. Thanks for the tip!
