medication side effects - skin

Posted by sweetmarie on March 31, 2001, at 7:39:58

I have a condition called `folliculitis` on my arms. This is only a recent occurance - it appeared about 8/9 months ago.

I wondered whether anyone else has the same condition (it`s an infection of the skin follicules, taking the form of tiny `spots` of the type you can get on your face only smaller). Does anyone else have this condition (not necessarily on their arms), and is it a side effect of medication(s)?

I take 4 medications currently: Phenelzine (Nardil), Trimipramine (Tofranil), Valproate (Epilim), and Lamotragine (Lamictal).

Can anyone help?

Cheers,

Anna.

I used to get that after exercising. I got it on my legs and torso. But I was never able to prove that it came from medication, because after I stopped medication it was still there.

Maybe someone else will have some more information as to what drugs can actually _cause_ it or make it worse.

This isn't anything like the rash that Lamotragine can sometimes cause, is it?

Chaston,

Apparently the rash you get from Lamotragine is a bit like mild sunburn (at best), and like poison ivy rash (at worst). I guess that it could have something to do with the Lamotragine, but it doesn`t actually fit this description.
