What ARE the effexor withdrawel symptoms???

Posted by LD on March 7, 2001, at 16:32:33

I was wondering exactly what the w/drawel symtoms are from Effexor. I've been off completely (after a very slow weaning process) for almost 2 weeks now. I also started up Prozac at the same time. I'm feeling horrilbe but don't know if its effexor w/drawel, or the side effects of starting Prozac. I"m very dizzy, lots of muscle aches, tired, and headachy.

Thanks.

The tell-tale symptom (which I got coming off Parnate, too) is what some folks call "brain lightning". It is a weird, dizzy sensation kinda like an electrical shock going through your head, or like watching a movie where somebody is shaking the camera. It's really a bizzare sensation, but if you've had it, you'll probably understand.

I am now off effexor xr for over 4 weeks. It took me all of 3 weeks to start feeling like myself again. I had all the same symptoms you had. I actually went to the Doctor and had so many test run that they found I had developed a virus that has mono like symptoms. I think that virus and the withdrawal effects from the effexor has run my system down so far it is all I can do to get out of bed everyday. I will never take that medication again. I would rather suffer with the depression than have the feelings I had going off of the drug. It is dangerous in my opinion and my Doctor agrees and has quit prescribing it. I hope you feel better soon. I know you will because I do. The dizziness has stopped and I can think straight now.

Good Luck
