I am new to this....I had been taking Dilantin since 1998 when suddenly developed a severe reaction to it and was switched to Topamax. I have been taking Topamax for about 5-6 wks and I'm almost to my top dose of 250 mgs per day. (for seizure disorder) I am having a very bad change of taste of drinks and food. Has anyone experienced this and is this a temporary side effect. I can definately see where I'd loose weight because it's very hard for me to eat when everything tastes so bad. Thanks for any help you can give me...

This happened to me. It was "mostly" temporary -soda still tastes tinny, as does beer. Everything else seems O.K. now, though. Watch out for cognitive trouble, slurred speech, and motor problems. These also cleared up for me, but were noticeable at first.
Good luck.
