Question: Prozac, BuSpar, Depakote and Booze

Posted by AndyJ on March 3, 2001, at 10:54:32

Hi everyone,

I am on Prozac (80mg), BuSpar (30mg), and Depakote (750mg) and I was wondering if anyone knew how dangerous it would be to add alcohol to this mix. I basically want to know if it is ok to have a drink or two with friends, I am not looking to get trashed or anything. So if anyone has any experiences or if anyone just knows, please post. Thanks.

I can't speak for the other drugs, but you should watch how much you drink with Prozac -- the effects of alcohol are greatly exaggerated in the presence of Prozac. One drink probably wouldn't be a problem, but I'd keep it to that -- and don't drive.

drinks as far as possible time-wise from when you take the depakote.
My daughter drank [abusively] with depakote and we experienced *over-sedation*
to put it mildly.

You could try the med checker at Dr. Koop.com or the product and dispensing info
for the drugs at the manufacturers' websites.
