I'm going back on Effexor tomorrow at a low dose--maybe 25 mg a day--coupled with an amphetamine. Last time on Effexor, I lost my desire. Has anyone here tried anything for the sexual side effects of these meds? Cohen suggested 500 mg of gingko in the tips section. Has anyone tried this?

Didn't know there was a 25 mg. pill... thought it started at 37.5 mg.

Well, it's a 50 mg pill (not time release capsule) and I cut it in half. Pretty unorthodox, but then nothing orthodox has worked so?

Mirapex may help. There was a report of it helping one women who was taking an SSRI. A similar med, bromocriptine can also help (see the Tips section). Mirapex however has the added potential benefit of adding onto the AD effect of effexor.

The only thing that helps my sexual side-effects is mirtazapine. I don't know what it does for women, but for me, it got rid of anorgasmia and increased my libido.

No..I take Effexor (sort of like an SSRI at low doses), and the Mirtazapine counteracts that. But its not perfect.
But I would recommend that anyone try low-dose mirtazapine for a few weeks to see what it does. If it doesn't cure sexual dysfunction, at least it will help you sleep.
