Eight years ago my doctor prescribed Klonopin (up to 3mg per day now) for my red, hot feet. It worked. Then about 5 months ago I began experiencing tremors, tingling, all the symtoms of fibromyalgia, etc. Could it be the Klonopin gone awry? I do not have a social problem. My doctor prescribed this because the only antidepressant that helped my feet was amitriptiline (Not sure of spelling)and I was gaining weight like crazy. Please, if anyone knows anything at all about the above, PLEASE let me know. In the meantime I being diagnosed with three more "diseases", and, I'm sorry, I just don't buy it. Something is wrong here and it is not anxiety because "I" am anxious. It's anxiety because of something else. HELP!

Hi Dolce,
I'm very sorry to hear about your Klonopin
problem. I empathize with what you are going through. I was taking Klonopin for about 6 months
and it "pooped-out" i.e. stopped working for me.
When I first started taking it , it helped to
remove a variety of symptoms that I was
experiencing including chronic tension head,
tingling in extremeties, bruxism.
When it pooped-out all *ell broke lose. Not
unlike your scenario. Klonopin is quite addictive.
Klonopin both relieves anxiety and is also a
anti-convulsant. I'm actually surprised that you
made it 8 years without a problem!I do have a couple of questions:
I'm curious as to what the diagnosis was for
your red hot feet, and why the doc figured
Klonopin was the answer? Also, at the point
that things went awry, did you try to raise the
Klonopin dose to see if it helped?Anyways, I'm almost finished tapering off
the Klonopin. I have been tapering it
off slowly over the past two months. In the mean
time I started Lamictal (an anti-convulsant) and
that relieved about 2/3 of the random pain,
and it stabilized my mood, but it didn't help
with the anxiety. I just started Neurontin (another anti-convulsant + anti-anxiety for me)
which kinda works on the same chemical as
Klonopin but is non-addictive.
Neurontin has been Great. For me it has almost
exactly the same effect as Klonopin and has
alleviated most of the withdrawl.Hope you can find relief soon.
