Effexor XR Twitching

Posted by Joe K on February 9, 2001, at 15:50:00

I have been taking Effexor XR 300Mg/day for a year now and suddenly (in the past 2-3 weeks) I have been experiencing "twitching" through out my body especially at night. I notice it during the day also but I think that since I am active I do not notice it as much. Does anyone else have anything like this? Also lately I cannot seem to get motivated? Beats me! Also for those interested in going off of Effexor XR I have forgotten to take them for only one day and I wish I never did that the side effects are horrendous.

yep that happens.. do you take the effexor as a single morning dose ? If so you may want to try 2 doses 12 hrs apart...

It seems to me /for me, to be a withdrawal type effect that happens mainly about 10 to 12 hrs after the last dose.

Have you added any other meds, even OTC, in the past few weeks... Have you changed something in your diet ? Grapefruit juice or other fruit juices ? more or less raw veggies ? tonic water ?

are you drinking ?

a change in any number of things can affect the myoneural junction & or cause increased muscle cell irritability...

vit E & Magnesium supplements usually help with the twitches....

I don't know why it would suddenly start, but I have also had the twitching--myoclonus--while lying down, usually before falling asleep. I now take serzone with the effexor xr and it eliminates the twitching.
