amisulpride

Posted by michael on November 30, 2000, at 19:06:28

Hello All,

Just wondering,

1. what dosage people are taking/finding effective?

2. How long before noticing positive/negative effects?

3. And is it alone, or in conjunction w/other meds (what meds & doses)?

4. Do you encounter sexual side effects? And if so, found any remedies that work for you?

5. Also wondering what symptoms people find it helps them with: dysthymia, anhedonia, fatgue/energy, concentration/focus, mood... other?

Any other observations/insights/comments/etc.?

Thanks for any info. michael

Hi michael,

I started taking amisulpride about a week and a half ago. I felt an improvement on it almost an hour after ingesting 50mgs. I saw improvement in energy, anxiety and a general clearing of my thought processes, which many here have coined "brain fog". I also have a lot of selegiline right now due to a trial with it over a year ago. After reading postings from andrewb who takes it in combo, I thought, why not? I tried it with a 5mg. tab of selegiline and found it was way too stimulating. It felt almost a little like cocain. So I lowered my amisulpride dose to 25mgs. and I think I may have found a good synergy. My mood and energy is great all day long, and my thought processes are much quicker now than ever before. I tried adding adrafinil to the mix and unfortunately experienced some inner tension and headaches. Which was dissapointing as I had high hopes for it. So I remain at 25mgs. of amisulpride and 5mgs. of selegiline in the morning praying that it wont poop out on me. I haven't felt this good in a long time. JohnL was right about a general melting of social anxiety, I feel very comfortable around people, and no longer find myself being self critical, I am more apt to just go with it. Well I am rambling so I will stop here, hope it helped. Good luck!

Hi Brandon:
I haven't tried Amisulpride yet. I'm trying Risperdal for the second time and I'm praying it does not poop- out on me.
Anyway, my question to you is do you feel that the Amisulpride has helped you with anxiety? Do you take any other meds. for anxiety/ depression.
Thanks for your info. because I'm also considering adding Selegiline to my regimen. I think I'll try 5 mg as well.

Your response would be greatly appreciated.

Best of Health to you,
Nat

......33mg per day (200mg tab broken into 6 pieces)

>

......felt it a tiny bit the first day, but best effects came at about the end of week two, continuing to improve after that.

......Didn't do much when I took it with Prozac, except improved social anxiety (I think the Prozac numbed whatever good effects Amisulpride might have had). Best effects for me come with Adrafinil+Amisulpride, with a tiny bit of Prozac in the background. Amisulpride alone is OK, but with Adrafinil, much much better. Amisulpride33mg + Adrafinil300mg + 5mg to 10mg Prozac.

>

......From 50mg to 100mg a day, I have mild impotence that kicks in at about week 3. At 33mg I have not had that problem. Apparently minor dose changes with me are significant in terms of sexual side effects.

......All of the above. And social anxiety too. Boost of confidence, overall social comfort, and some enhancement of mental cognition. But again, Amisulpride alone for me was only mildly helpful in these areas (though certainly better than SSRIs). It is the combo of Amisulpride+Adrafinil that really works for me.

......It's a crime we can't get this wonderful medicine at our local pharmacy.

John,

Thanks for the always thorough feedback. I don't recall if you've mentioned this or not, but I thought you'd be interested, so just in case...

I wanted to pass along to you and everyone else that Dr. Jensen has a new text coming out anytime now. I don't know anything more about it, if "text" implies a text book, or just a text directed to the general public...?

I don't have any details, and didn't see any last time that I checked his site - but I had called his office to talk to him/his office, and they mentioned it to me, and suggested that they have him call me back to address a couple questions I was asking...

Naturally I missed his call (I was actually home - had gotten home from work a bit early, but was worn out, so I was taking a nap... how ironic), but in his msg, he too mentioned this new text that is due out shortly (sounded like any moment now) and that I might find it of interest...

So, that's all I know at this point, but I thought you (& some of our fellow posters) might be interested...

Btw, yet another question for you - the dosage you mentioned is kind of low, relatively speaking... just wondering if you had experienced any sedative effects at higher doses, and that you got to the 33mg by experimenting w/lower doses?

I'm trying it at 50mg/day just now, but I had been (& still am) taking 300mg bid of adrafinil as well... which is obviously higher than you've settled into... (I've found that I often need doses of meds on the higher end of the spectrum, but am obviously still experimenting w/this combination... and plan to experiment w/lower doses if a synergy seems to present itself...)

Hope that question makes sense... If not, don't worry about it. Anyway, thanks once again for all the info, & I hope you find that you only do better & better as time passes. michael

Lynne,
Go to xxx

When you get there, click on the antidepressant button. You'll find Amisulpride (Deniban). You can then go through the procedure just like any other online purchase, ie, put item in your cart, pay with credit card, etc. No prescription. Delivery to USA is about 5 to 8 days. They have an impressive selection and good prices.

JohnL,

Thank You for the web address. I think I will order some, but I am worried about weight gain. What do you think? Also is Seroquel anything like Amisulpride?

Thanks Again,
Lynne

Lynne,
Weight gain on Amisulpride is rather rare I think. Seroquel is kind of in the same family, yet quite a bit different. I've heard it has been somewhat sedating for some people, whereas Amisulpride is usually either slightly stimulating or neutral.
