If I were you, I would cut it back to 10 mg for the next week or 2. Then up it to 20. That's what I did. I started out taking it at aroung 8 pm since I had drowsiness. Then, after about 4 weeks, the drowsiness went away so I now take it in the morning so that it won't interfere with sleep. Before reducing it to 10 mg and building back up to 20mg, check with your doctor first.

I'm curious to hear from others of you on Celexa about what time you take it. i just switched to nights because my mornings are bad (a lot of anxiety) and I was wondering if it would make a difference. Anybody else find it makes a difference what time they take it? Thanks.

I am currently taking 100mg of Celexa to relieve symptoms of OCD. When I first started the drug, I experienced a slight loss of appetite, a little dizziness, and drowsiness. This is typical with most people as their body gets use to the drug and lasts a couple of weeks at the most. I have been taking 100mg for about four months and still experience occasional spells of drowsiness (like taking cold medicine) but found that if I take it around 7 at night, I get a great night sleep. In some people it can cause the opposite effect and energize the system and they should take it in the morning, but you sound like you get a sedated effect like myself so it might be a good idea to take it at night. I experimented with different times during the day to take it and found around dinner time to be the best for me. Make sure you let your doctor know though. As far as hair loss, while I was initially doing research I came upon some rare cases of people complaining of this. I asked my psychiatrist and out of all the patients he has seen over his many years, he said maybe one or two out of hundreds have had this. It is rare with AD's but I think a little more common with antipsychotics. I have read to take zinc-selenium supplements to counteract this (ie Centrum Silver) because theoretically in some people the drugs can cause an interference in using zinc selenium to grow hair. Of the reports I read, most of the people claimed that their hair grew back as before once their bodies became adjusted. Since taking the Celexa, I have most definetly have noticed my hair becoming a lot thicker and fuller due to the decrease in stress from the effects of the drug. I have always noticed that throughout my life that if I go through long periods of emotional stress (which is easy if you have OCD!) my hair thins out. The Celexa (along with therapy) has helped decrease that stress so now I am looking and feeling better than ever. Hang in there with Celexa, it is a great drug and once your body becomes accustomed to it, you will agree!! Good luck!!!

I have taken celexa for several months. It works quite well.
It gives me a tired feeling for a few hrs that is unplesant during the day. If I take it at bedtime, it disrupts sleep.
6PM works best for me.

I purposely take it right after dinner, and not only does it help with sleeping (which is funny because the first 4 days I took Celexa it gave me severe insomina!!!) but...I also had very bad mornings...that was the worst time of day for me, waking up, and I find that I no longer have them now...I hope that helps! >

I started taking celexa 20mg at night and found I slept through the night just fine and had no problems. Then my dr. upped my dose to 40mg. I still had no problems taking this dose at night. However, I mentioned it wasn't helping with the anxiety and depression the way I hoped. He suggested I take it at the am and not the pm. When I started taking it in the am hours I became vary tired and hard to stay awake. It has however, helped with the depression and anxiety. It took aprox. 2 months for the fatigue to ware off.
