Thank you to all who answered my initial query. Just a quick note on some points I for got to mention.
I'm 25. So I think that I wouldn't be eligible for health insurance through my father. In any event he is in graduate school and gets his health insurance through a student plan in Massachusetts organized around a University Health Center. In any case, I am not claimed as a dependant.
From what I can tell Aetna and United Health Care do not provide individual policies outside of some of the Northeastern states. The American Bar Association offers a student insurance plan, but it is really just catastrophic coverage with nothing for routine, preventative care and complete exclusion on mental or nervous disorders.I mentioned those other plans, because they do sell individual policies.
Does anyone know of a group I could join to get bargaining power?
Thanks,
Abby
