Hi,
I tried my first dose of Reboxetine (Edronax) - 2mg - and I felt really terrible. Like I drank a lot of bad coffee and smoked a zillion cigarettes. Agitation, feeling physically unwell, inability to concentrate mentally or visually.
I'm wondering if this initial reaction is indicative of how Reboxetine might feel over time. I wanted to take it for energy and apathy, but I certainly do not like the kind of energy it gave me. For those of you who have taken Reboxetine, do you think I should stick it out?
thanks,
anita

Anita,
I know they are hard to split, but try a 1/4 tablet (1mg dose). It is possible you are geting just too much of a good thing. Let us know how it goes if you decide try the lower dose.

I would do like Andrew said...try half a tab.
I doubt though that Rebox is going to work out for you. Normally when a med makes us feel that bad, it is pretty predictive of final outcomes. Doesn't look too promising to me.
Can people feel that bad to a med at first, and later adjust to it? Sure. Why they would want to, I have no clue. But to me the bad reaction means a couple things:
1. Your norepinephrine levels are fine. They don't need to be increased, and only make you feel worse when they are increased.
2. For whatever reason, your body chemistry rejects the Reboxetine molecule. Just not a good match.
3. If Reboxetine is going to work for you, it is going to do so only through an indirect trickle down effect over time. It is not on target, and your response proves it.You could try half a dose, but I dunno...
You know, I felt the same way as you on Reboxetine. It was horrible. I thought I felt miserable before. But when taking Rebox, yikes is right! Worse than awful. But then later I discovered my body really likes Adrafinil, Amisulpride, or both together the best. It makes me wonder if you and I have similar chemistries. It makes me wonder if you too would respond well to Adrafinil and/or Amisulpride. My gut instinct is that you would. Something to think about.

Hi Andrew and John,
I tried half a tab (1mg)... and same thing. Oy. I don't usually respond so strongly to tiny doses...
Maybe adrafinil is worth a shot. I did do well on amisulpride til it stopped working. Am curious about minaprine (dopamine & serotonin reuptake inhibitor).

Anita,
Good luck with the adrafinil if you try it. Minaprine is off the market if I remember correctly.

Andrew,
I came across a site. On the product list is minaprine, which I've been curious about. Also listed are nimopidine,L-dopa, and sulbutiamine among many other stimulant type meds that I have never heard of. Let me know what you think.
Sincerely,
Anthony

Minaprine was withdrawn from commercialization in '96 I believe. Anyway, if you try to order the products, you may or may not get your money returned, but you definately won't get the product ordered.

Hi Andrew,
Do you know much about minaprine, and why it is no longer sold commercially? I read that it increases serotonin and dopamine (don't know how tho, maybe thru release or reuptake) and is a cholinergic. It's sold as a smart drug and a drug for Alzheimer's, it seems. Any further info you may have would be helpful.
thanks,
