I used to take Marplan (3 pills nightly) with excellent results. One day it pooped out. I pushed to 4 pills at night to no avail, so I lived my life. Agoaphobia and panic got the best of me anyway. I switched to Nardil when Marplan was discontinued. I stayed at the same level for a long time, not driving far fearing panic. These days, I am getting slowly closed in. I am having a hard time going to my shop 3 miles away. My question is, If I start Marplan again, will it work as it did when I first started it? PLEASE HELP!!

Hi,
If it's been over 3 months since you got off Marplan, you could try it again -- sometimes when a drug stops working, all you need is a break from it for a few months and then it will work again. You could also try Parnate, the other MAOI.

I am sure you have been told this, but have you ever given paxil or zoloft a try for your panic disorder? The reason I ask is my Mom takes Nardil for her panic attacks and there are sooo many no no's that come along with that med. and I really worry about her. I too have severe panic disorder and my docs gave me paxil. It works GREAT!!!
