Roboxotene side effects?

Posted by Robert on May 15, 2000, at 13:27:04

I'm thinking of trying Roboxetene (Edronax, Vestra).
I'm currently on Wellbrutin.(works so so)
However I'm concerned about side effects (who isn't)
I have tried some antidepressents that have chemically castrated me. Does roboxetine do this?
Thanks in advance for any response

Robert

> Robert: I've never taken roboxetine but I just wanted to tell you that your phrase "chemically castrated" is THE best way I have ever heard that particular side effect described. Beautiful and direct. Impressed, Tina

Hey Robert, I've read responces from a number of people who have used Reboxetine. Side effects may very well be more pronounced if the dosage is started is too high. If you choose to try the Reboxetine, I would recommend starting with a half of a pill at 2mg. per day.

If you've never used the Tricylic antidepressant Desipramine, you might want to try that. I am told that it's mode of action is similar to Reboxetine, and that it has a low rating for the typical Tricylic side effects. Just an option.

Reboxetine can cause difficulty achieving or maintaining an erection and also can cause retrograde ejaculations. At its worst, it can cause total impotence. My impression is that these sexual side effects are not common but also are not rare. These side effects may or may not go away with time. I have taken reboxetine for abut five months. My erections are back to normal but my ejaculations are not. There are some drugs a person can take that take away these side effects such as Flomax.

Thanks for the responses.

I was told that roboxetine had less side affects than most. Oh well maybe it was just a bunch of hype. I mean, who wants to say,"gee,I think my mood has improved" but still be cut off at the waist??

I noticed nearly immediate impotence on 2mg Reboxetine. It was definitely not acceptable to me to wait it out to see if it would go away in time. Maybe it would have, maybe it wouldn't, but it was totally unacceptable in my own treatment to wait and find out. I was in search of a drug that would work quickly and provide acceptable side effects early on. Reboxetine for me did not fit that description.
