has it pooped on me?????

Posted by diamondlil on May 14, 2000, at 15:10:40

How do you know for positively sure that your meds have pooped out? I do not feel depressed but feel anxiety again for the first time in a year, cranky, find myself making comments that I wouln't have made 6 months ago (needling comments to the husband). I'm thinking this 20mg celexa is not working like it use to. But do the Dr's normally up the dose or stop gradually or switch. I seem to have long light depression but have felt so good hate starting to feel crappy again but again nothing like before. any suggestions.

If you have felt good at 20 mg for a year and now you are having some anxiety and other changes in how you feel, the next step fo your doctor would usually be to increase the dosage.

Perhaps just increasing it by 10 mg for a while might be enough to change how you are feeling.

When I started celexa, I didn't feel better until I went to 40 mg. Now that I've been on it for a year, really 9 mos, I take 30 mg, but take 10 mg in the morning and 20 mg at night.

So call your doctor and see what he/she suggests.

Tweaking the dosage is usually the thing to do especially when you know Celexa works for you. The only reason you should try another med is if a change in the dosage doesn't bring about some improvement in your symptoms.

Good luck. I'm thinkin of reducing my dose to 20 mg to see how i do.

P.S. I also take Wellbutrin 150 mg and Neurontin 400 mg. It's a constant balancing act to get the right mix.

Diamondlil,
Sorry to hear things aren't going quite as well as they used to. Just a couple comments concerning Celexa. In clinical trials 20mg was not much different than placebo. At 40mg it started to show clear superiority to placebo. I think it's great that it worked at 20mg for a while. But just so you know, that is a bit on the low side. I think it makes sense to increase to 30mg for a couple weeks, and then maybe 40mg for a couple weeks, just to see how that goes.
