Ok, I'm trying a new thread since I haven't gotten any resposnse to my question on a previous one. I have been taking Naxtrexone successfully for several weeks to restart my "pooped out" luvox. I am wondering if I need to take the Naltrexone forever, or if I will be able to stop. I don't mind taking it...have almost no side effects other than insomnia which I deal with by taking Klonipin right before bedtime. But, on the other hand, I don't want to take any unneccessary drugs. Can anyone help?

Carolyn, My experience with poop-out is that if you find something that works you should consider it a gift and stay with it. We would all like to be taking no meds, but... Wayne

I certainly didn't mean toignore your previous post. I've been taking Naltrexone for about 6-8 months and don't know how long it will take before I'm comfortable without it. My problem is that I started taking it for alcoholism and I'm hesitant to stop taking it right now because of the alcohol cravings coming back. If it weren't for that I would probably start reducing my dose as an experiment after a year of taking it.
All in all I guess it's best to ask your doctor but then again there is really no research on Naltrexone being used as an AD so the doc may be lost for an answer too.
