I had a 3 month spell on Effexor before Christmas. When asked to explain it's effects to others I have replied that it turned me into a zombie. This seems to be the same effect you are having. I'm very sorry to hear it.

My diagnosis is Social Phobia/Anxiety and it is true to say that my anxiety was less of a problem on Effexor. But because Effexor rid me of almost all my other emotions I wasn't very happy on it.

I was upped to 300mg but this didn't help me.

I'm now on Moclobomide (also called Manerix). This has had an activating effect but only when I upped it to 900mg, which is above the recomended dose. Perhaps you could ask your psychiatrist about this as an option.

ps. it has always been my opinion that a stimulating drug would help me, but my psychiatrist said that there is no way he can prescribe this for me. I live in England.

I hope things get better Thomas

Thomas,
I was on Effexor XR and was taken off it for exactly the reasons you are describing. I had no energy prior to taking it and afterwards was REALLY bad! I also had problems with forgetfulness, (where I parked the car, picking the kids up from school, etc.). If memory serves me correctly (ha-ha), there is the standard "may make you drowsy" label on the bottle, although I don't know if you have that in Sweden. Effexor works well for a lot of people, others not well at all. Is Effexor the first AD you've tried? It may just be a matter of giving it more time. I hope you find the right one for you, I currently take Wellbutrin SR which seems to be working pretty well for me. Good luck!

Peace,
Greg

An increase may help. From my experience, so will time, but I am on stimulants, too.
