Hello all--
Has anyone gained weight on Nardil or Parnate? I gained a significant amount of weight on SSRI's and have no interest in revisiting those extra lbs.
Your feedback is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Stella

Nardil contributed to weight gain while Parnate
didn't. But Parnate made me a bit nauseous, so
that may have contributed.I had no weight problems while taking Marplan,
another MAOI that has recently become available
again. You might want to consider it...

I have taken both Parnate and Nardil. I gained weight on the Nardil, but I actually lost 30 pounds on the Parnate. Too bad it stopped working because I gained all the weight back as soon as I stopped taking it.

Stella,
I gained weight on Nardil and Marplan but not Parnate. Overall, Nardil seems to be the worst, while Parnate rarely causes weight gain.

> I gained 40 pounds on Nardil. This weight gain occurred even though I jogged 2-3 miles a day and was very strict with my diet. I felt wonderful, but could not control the weight gain. Switched to Parnate, haven't yet lost the weight, but haven't gained any. I don't feel quite as good as I did on Nardil, but I'm not depressed.
