Hi JohnL,
Well I had about three paragraphs written but the damn server wouldnt extract it so to save time I'm going to shorten it.
I was wondering how the stimulant trial was going? Have you tried adderall or mirapex?
I asked my doc about low dose seroquel and a stimulant (probably ritalin because it has worked in the past) and he told me that he had recieved good results from that combo in his practice.
Do you think mirapex would work as well with a antipsychotic or is it too specific in its receptor binding?
I started supplementing my dilantin with 600 mgs. a day of SJW so if that doesnt work I will probably go the route of low dose antipsychotic with a stim.
Hope you are finding success with your regimen,
thanks for your timeBrandon

Nice to hear from you Brandon. I am on a holding pattern with Prozac. My first appointment with a new psychiatrist is today. I have a feeling he will use me as a test rabbit for a few weeks. He will likely give me quick trials of all the stimulants and possibly a couple different mood stabilizers, and possibly antipsychotics, and who knows what else. He likes to explore for quick results, and he lets medication reactions guide treatment, rather than diagnosis or symptoms.
I agree with that strategy because so often we find a drug we wouldn't expect to work actually works great. And ones we expect to work don't. And drugs from a different class can work better than the more obvious drug choices for a particular set of symptoms. It's usually not much better than a flip of the coin in trying to predict results. That's fine with me, because in my experience I have found that the best drugs for a particular person usually work fairly fast, and they can only be discovered through trial and error. This new pdoc sees things as I see them and is having tremendous success with tough cases, so who knows what's in store for me. We'll see. JohnL

John, Good luck with the new pdoc. I like the idea of quick trials of meds.
