So wierd. Today I felt great and had a ton of energy. Is it because I lowered my dose of prozac to 30 mg since yesterday? Can't possibly work that fast, can it?
My pdoc says I have PTSD and I am clinically depressed. Can your moods/energy shift so dramatically overnight if you have that? Just yesterday I felt like I couldn't even move..no energy, didn't want to go on living. Felt that way for 2 weeks straight. Today I have so much energy, I don't know what's going on.I was not sick with the flu or anything, I also had my flu shot this year...too wierd. I hope it lasts, I hope I feel the same tomorrow.

Sef,
Glad to hear you're feeling well--I hope it continues too!You should try to let your doctor know of this turnaround, just to keep him/her in the loop (especially if you're feeling a bit *too* well, as this can be the sign of a low-level manic reaction which would need attending to). But some people literally do feel a lifting of depression overnight, even after one or two weeks of treatment. As for lowering the Prozac dose, one thing to keep in mind is that Prozac stays in your system a *long* time, so it's unlikely that yesterday's dose change would have had a huge effect: you still have much of the previous days' worth in your system. But changing the dosage is all the more reason to get in touch with your pdoc to make sure you can hold onto this definite change for the better.
Good luck!

Yes, in the so-called "atypical" type depression, moods can vary, although it isn't clear that this is what is happening here. As for PTSD, it presents in so many different ways--I think variation in mood is definitely possible.
How long have you been on Prozac? Does your doc know you lowered your dose?
I think it might help to keep track of your moods. That way, as jd suggests, if you are having a hypomanic type switch with the prozac, you can have some idea of how your moods have varied.
Good luck.

Thanks you guys! I didn't think I could possibly notice a difference in a lowered dose of prozac so fast.
I have an appt with my psychologist thursday and my pdoc on the 29th. I will tell them what happened and ask them about atypical and such.
This is the end of the thread.
