Is there a particular class of AD's that seem to be
more synergistic with neurontin? Or, does monotherapy
with neurontin sometimes work with depressive
symptoms as well? I'd appreciate any and all feed
back on this drug. Starting at 300mg/day. I really
hope it helps.Thanks,
Sean.

I have been using Wellbutrin and Neurontin for quite awhile and they seem to work great together.
Currently on 225 mg of regular formula wellbutrin along with 2100 mgs of neurontin.
The wellbutrin is more for ADD while the Neurontin is for Bipolar. Have heard that Neurontin has had some antidepressant effects for some folks. Also some anti anxiety propertys have been associated with Neurontin.>

300 mg of Neurontin is an extremely low dose. I was on 300 mg until recently, but in conjunction with Lithium. Neurontin is a mood stabilizer, but I'm now sure how effective 300 mg would be for a real depression. It could be, but I would question it if you don't feel better.

>Thanks for the replies. I'm moving up to 900 mg
per day, 300 was the starting dose to see how the
side effects go. I also tend to be very sensitive
to meds. My hope is to be able to do monotherapy
for a while, see how it goes with just a mood
stabilizer as I have problems with AD's making me
hypomanic...> Sean.

I'm on Neurontin and Lithium, too. I'm finally stable for the first time since last December. From what I understand, ADs can cause mania (Prozac certainly did for me). Hope it works out for you. Keep us posted.

I have found Neurontin (so far) to be effective in relieveing a bad case of bipolar depression. Keep in mind though I'm still on a low chronic dose of lithium, and the results (the feeling better) have only lasted a week or two. Side effects have been negligable, and I'm typically very sensitive to them.
Best of luck,
Justin

Justin, I just started Neurontin monotherapy yesterday. Does the blurry and double vision go away quickly as the insert says?
ThanksAnnie

Not meaning to intrude Annie but I found that those symptoms went away after about a week.
