Hi,
I just wanted to second yardena's comment, you are indeed a very generous person. The site you have set up is the best I've found on the net. I frequent it daily and though I don't live in the Boston area I would show up if I did.

It is very gracious of you to want to meet us on a social level. I would also join you and the group for coffee if I lived in that area, but I don't. I live on the opposite coast. Thank-you so much for the offer though.

If there's interest in getting together in person, maybe we could try to swing something sometime Sunday. I don't know my schedule yet; I just thought I'd throw this out.
I was thinking something social, like over coffee, and not an intense discussion of medication or group therapy session...Hey, I think this would be neat. I live in NH--near Portsmouth and the University of NH in Durham. I hate driving in Boston (I'm used to NH) and it's about 1 1/2hr drive, but I would love to meet. Too bad it's not the weekend after since I am taking my son back to college in the center of Boston that Sunday anyway (I follow him!). I think there are some others in Boston area, Elizabeth??
Where is the conference? If you decide to get together let me know.

Yup, I'm in Boston, and I think a couple other people are as well. Sounds fun.
Regardless of whether we are able to meet in person, I'll be interested to hear about the AP[sychol]A convention.

Dr. Bob, I hate driving in Boston but I would attend in a heartbeat. I live in the Portland Maine area, about 1 1/2 hours, and I've made that trip several times for other reasons. Considering I drive 750 miles a week in my job, Boston is only a hop skip and a jump away. Count me in if it happens. The only problem I aniticipate is actually finding the meeting location. Thanks much! JohnL.

That's really weird, Dr. Bob, because the past
couple of days I've had this image in my head
of all of us meeting and hanging out...like you
said, nothing serious, just hanging out and talking. It would be so cool to meet some of you on this
site. If I were closer, I'd definately meet up
with the group for coffee, but I'm in North Cack-a-Lacky.

How about any upcoming conferences in Seattle? You guys in the East would probably welcome our unseasonably cool weather for a change! I don't think it's topped 75 degrees in weeks. (Of course, I don't know how you feel about clouds and drizzle in August!)
Wish I lived close enough for a get-together--sounds great.....nice of you to offer, Dr. Bob-

I wasn't on line for a couple of days so just read your post, so this may be too late. I'm in Boston and would love to have the chance to sit and talk with others in person. This forum has come to be a very important support to me and I'm grateful to you for hosting it.
Please let me know if you're still thinking of meeting because I'd like to come. It's kind of you to even think about it. Thanks

Hi,
OK, let's try this Sunday at 1 pm at this restaurant called Marche. It's an interesting sort of place, with different stations or whatever, so people can get as much (or as little) as they like. I went to one in Toronto last year and had a good time.
It's kind of behind the Hynes Convention Center, which is on Boylston Street, and next to the Sheraton. It's on Huntington Ave., I think. Let's meet on the top (third) level, in the "Mediterranean Garden" section in the back (with the grape-cluster lights :-).
If you have any questions, their number is (617) 578-9700.
See you then!
Bob
PS: I was thinking of this more as a chance to meet each other than me...

Have a great time!

Hi,
I would love to come. However I struggled through yesterday at work with the beginnings of a cold/sinus infection. Today at home I feel like I am underwater with cement in my head. At least it isn't hot and humid out too--it's cool and drizzly--probably the same in Boston? Unless a miraculous recovery sets in, I won't be there tomorrow. I would like to meet Dr Bob and other posters. Not to do what we do on psychobabble, but just to make a human connection with the "electronic " posters! I took an on-line review class for my certification and made electronic friends all over the US. I still Instant message with some. It was strange to meet "an electronic" image of people. I would like to meet some of them too! Hope those who can go have a wonderful meeting. If things look up here iwill post again. Dotty

I didn't find anyone else, which was disappointing...
I hope no one just gave up because I was late. I got there at 5 after, then spent another 10 minutes in line before I could get in.
I happened to discover afterwards that they had a store called Marche-lino in a more central location in the mall. Maybe that was confusing?
Oh, well, it was just an idea.

Dr. Bob I thought it was a good idea and I would love to meet other members of this board. I live in Indiana so if you ever come my way I'd be glad to meet you and others somewhere for lunch or dinner!Brandon

Dr. Bob, it was that long line and the hectic noise and crowd that scared me off. I was disappointed to not meet other folks and you, but I think downtown Boston was a bit over my head on that day. I wish a quieter place had been available, but I didn't see any. Regardless, it is a great idea. Hope you had a good trip. I could never have imagined so many psychologists and psychiatrists all in one place! Thanks once again for your efforts. By the way, what all was discussed at that conference? Share any of it with us? Thanks. JohnL.

I would have braved the traffic, but as I said above I was sick. I still feel tired and like cement blocks in the head. I work with little ones and it's hard not to get sick every now and then. I'm so sorry it didn't work out! It must have been so disappointing for you. Don't give up on us. Maybe it will work out another time.

Wasn't that something? In retrospect, it wasn't a very good choice for something like this.

I brought my program in case people were interested. There were lots of good programs. It's all in PDF format, but it's all available at:

Dr. Bob,
I know this is a long shot but, if you ever come over to Australia, I would love to meet with you, as would some of my friends. Just to discuss some of the advances made in the U.S , and the differences here in Australia. I find that there just don't seem to be the links over here that you guys all talk about!
It is a very nice country!!!!!
Sincerely, in the hope of this far out idea

The "links"?
I've actually been working on a symposium on international perspectives on the use of the Internet in mental health -- or something like that -- for the big psychiatry meeting here in Chicago next May. My idea is to get Peter Yellowlees from Queensland to discuss the Australian scene.
We'll also have a Psycho-Babble get-together someplace quiet. With lots of advance notice. :-)

Cool! I'll help you find a place if you want my help---easy to get to by EL, quiet, cheap, seperate room, etc...... I usually have to play tour guide for new folks and visitors from work.I don't think I'm the only one from the greater Chicago area who found this place.

Great!
Other trips in the works: New York City, maybe October 11 would be the best day; and Phoenix, also next May. :-)
Bob
PS: Also, of course, folks are free to get together without me...
