This is load of horse excrement. I used a word for a play on words but realize that your PBC was based on a dictionary definition of the word that indicates that it is vulgar. BUT someone used the word b*lls (like an asterisk makes all the difference in the *&%$# world) and didn't get an honorable mention although b*lls also is defined in Webster's as vulgar. So, WTF, Bob????!!!!

sorry, didn't mean to offend anyone... (nm)

Phillipa, that's Chloe's vulva. Roll Teddy over. See where his penis is? It's midway on his belly. Have you ever picked him up at the small part of his waist? That's more or less where his penis is.

Roll Chloe over. Flat smooth tummy. Further back, between her legs, there's a vulva. It's small, fleshy and V shaped. It's not solid. Within its folds is her vagina. Look at Teddy again. His penis has a small hole, not a vagina.

Should you leave Chloe unneutered, and she comes in heat, her vulva will swell to a quite noticeable size, and her vagina will be quite obvious to you, and to Teddy. The purpose of its placement toward the rear of her body will become quite obvious if Teddy also isn't neutered.

You can show Chloe's vulva to everyone in your city, and it won't change the fact that she's a girl. A perfectly lovely girl dog with a perfectly normal vulva between her legs, not a penis on her belly.

I suspect the offence wasn't directed toward you.
I think it was the same sort of WTH? puzzlement we've discussed on admin, about how putting a little * in words seems very important to some, and others like us can't fathom what difference it makes.

Dinah you almost had me laughing. Not by what you described by my husband almost jumping up and down in glee wanting to be right. I'd roll Teddy over but boy he's getting fat!!!!. Chloe has so much fur I can't see beneath the fur. But urine comes from that thing. Love phillpa. Sorry for all the puppy problems.

I thought that was clearly a joke (and a pretty funny one at that).

It would have been different if he had CALLED someone that.

I think you were jumping the gun a little bit there too.

Sorry, I hadn't looked up that one, I'll try to be alert for it in the future. Your play on words would've been fine with an asterisk. I'm not saying it makes all the difference in the world, just some. Thanks,

Bob

No way to apply autoasterisking to subject lines?

Because people just don't *know*. I might have guessed about the synonym for kitten (although maybe not, since it was a play on words), but it wouldn't have occurred to me in a million years about b*lls. Seems quite a sensible and acceptable euphemism to me.

I liked the curse word rule a lot better once you added autoasterisking, because then it was more likely to be an intentional override. But if you can't apply it to subject lines, I think you should just give a heads up, not a PBC, unless it's the f- word or something like that. (Yes, I know you see a PBC as a heads up, but there's a distinction to posters I think.)

JMHO.

Are you suggesting that the only reason I have an opinion on asterisking is Dr. Bob's involvement?

Surely you underestimate my opinionatedness.

Why don't you take Chloe to the vet if you're sure she's a male? That should answer the question definitively, shouldn't it?

I doubt Dr. Bob has more expertise in the vulvas of female dogs than your vet does.

I must confess to being a bit distressed, as a doggy mom, at the idea of Chloe being upended so that her vulva can be displayed.

However, I'm sure I'm guilty of anthropomorphism and perhaps of a bit of feminism. I'm sure it doesn't bother Chloe to have her vulva examined, or thought of as a pee pee.

It's my issue completely, and I'll take ownership of it.

Dinah no need to apologize. Everytime we take a walk with Chloe Greg brings up the subject as he wants to be right and everyone looks. Seriously only one other orifice. But a lady here today said it's just not developed yet. On Monday Chloe sees the Vet for a shot and the answer will be definitely solved. Love Phillipa Bet you're a super dupper doggy Mom

Thanks, Phillipa. And again, I'm sorry I put my own issues into the topic.

I'm sure it will all be cleared up Monday.

I hope I'm a good doggy mom. My littlest girl has got some serious problems with vertigo, and the vet is worried. I'm worried too. But hopefully it's nothing serious. She's only two. That seems too young to have serious problems.

This topic is kind of bringing up some bits of feminist ire in me, too. The implication I get is that most people think females have no external genitalia at all-- just a vagina. So if there's anything there at all, it must be a penis. And that irks me.

I wish I hadn't read any of this.
It disturbs me, when a "mom" invites anyone and everyone to view her "baby's" genitals, and continues conversation about them though it's clearly female.
Perhaps if the terms mom and baby hadn't been used my subconscious wouldn't have made that association, but however much logic I tried to use after the fact, I couldn't get the revulsion to lift

He said the bad news was that her ears were fine.

She's been on Dramamine for a few days, with no difference that I can see. She got a bit worse at first, falling over, but now she's back to where she was.

She doesn't know where to look when we call her. She consistently looks a bit to our right. She spins in circles to her left. She walks alongside furniture and walls. And now she's starting to shy away from common objects. But she seems happy enough. Dogs are so much more stoic than we are, many of them anyway. I'd be sitting in one place whimpering that I'm dizzy. She's going about her life as best she can.

Next, a CT scan. :(
