Why do you call it a flaw? Some like thin women, some like them fat, and some like tall or short. I just see this as a preference. Fondly, Phillipa

what I meant by 'flaw' and what Maximus meant are two different things.
I don't think sexual preference is a flaw.

Not just meeting Babblers, for some reason half way up I thought about oxycodone instead of oxycontin for such an occasion, just the normal chatter.

"One day they will discover the genetic flaw which leads to this behavior"
That is kind of a totalitarian way of putting it.
Homosexuality is not considered a mental illness. I think that since, many people in this position aren't suffering or hurting anybody, it will never be a focus of medical science. I know it discusts you but....
Just like we aren't really working to find a cure for left handedness, although at one point in time, people thought we should be.If a pill was to take it away over night, I would't recognize myself.

I'm sure a lot of "stright" people would feel offended if I told them their attraction was "flawed".

Well of course it used to be a mental illness and then the committee that decides what goes in the DSM decided it wasn't, just like they decided not to put in 'innapropriate male aggression' and so on.
This doesn't even deserve the respect one might give to the concept of witchcraft, well maybe I'm too nostalgic.

If someone marketed a pill to 'cure' homosexuality, I certainly wouldn't take it!

Hi Dec,
>'innapropriate male aggression'
LOL, I guess they'd get classified as 'antisocial personality disorder' these days.

We are *such* social creatures, shaping ourselves to our surroundings and this makes us vulnerable to fitting in at the expense of self acceptance.

I think an example of that statement would be a homosexual person who pretends to be stright just
to make it easier for themselved socially.Linkadge

Ahhh How can you pretend? I once went to a gay bar in Cape Cod. The guys were all dancing together with their hands in each other's pockets. Down the street was a gay bar for women. They were all making cat calls and putting their fingers in their mouth to whistle loudly. Quite frankly, as i said before most of my friends were gay guys. They're the best. No competition like a woman would have with another woman. Much less stress. So i don't care how some people in society may feel each is entitled to his own. What you do behind closed doors is your business. Love PJ

And honestly, people who worry about such things don't have enough to worry about. Everyone here is familiar with horrible stuff.
'Love others as I have loved you', isn't that it?
