Hello Everyone,
Today was such a bad day. As lot of you know I am a liscensed masters social worker at a child psychiatric unit. I see a lot of sad things, however today I saw the worst one yet. Of course I cannot get into details nor would I want to horrify you, but I ended up getting a court order to take him out of his home, I had to talk to the poor thing for 2 and a half hours before he would tell me the truth. When he started talking I had to leave the room once because I was so upset.
I just don't understand who could hurt this precious child. I went out tonight and bought him a bunch of toys as a reward for having to tell his horrible account. I know I did the right thing for this child. I just cannot imagine some of the things that people can do to a child, its just so mind boggling.
Just needed someone to talk to....
Lexy

lexy, not everyone is blessed with good parents or a loving, caring, protecting home, that is why most of us are on antidepressants... glad someone is intervening for this little one.. i wish someone would have intervened for me and my sister... i often wonder why people, who abuse such a precious gift from heaven, are allowed to have this gift in the first place... i know when my mother etc.. get to judgement day the LORD is gonna say...."i gave you this many precious gifts from heaven, WHAT DID YOU DO WITH THEM???" (my mother was blessed with 6 living children) i wouldn't want to answer for them.. ya know what i mean? thanks for having a good heart.. we love ya lexy

Hey Lexy ....you know that you are doing the work that you are meant to do ....so you just breathe and remember that you are the one helping these children ...you are the one to tell them that it is ok....you are the one that they can find some piece of love and hope with ...be proud of yourself and try not to think of the negative..It is soooooo sad...I know ....You take care of yourself as you are the angel that is here to help them and you will I just know it...Have a great day and how is the prozac going...hopefully that will help but there will be no med that will heal the heart when dealing with these situations...just know that you are meant to be there for them.....have a great day...Your friend always Mystic

Lexy, I think that you will be fine with the Prozac. You are taking it slow and that's the key I think to reducing s/e's. Your job sounds very fascinating! I also want to work with high risk kids but not to the degree that you do. If parents only knew how much they can f up their children by their actions and words.... You are making a difference in the world and you should be proud of that! Mrs. C

Wow Lexy,
I wrote back to your other post before I read this one. That is so awful and heartbreaking. I am taking a Family Crisis class this semester and can't believe the things that children have to endure. It affects the entire rest of their lives! But good for you for giving this boy some hope and for being his angel. Mrs. C

I think alot of people like to pretend things are normal when they really aren't. I'm so sorry that you had to go through that. I was so lucky, there was never abuse in my childhood. I don't know why I am so messed up! Ha Ha. Mrs. C

Oh my God Lexy,

I can't imaging what that was like, but thanks to you that little boy was able to open up and feel safe in telling you his horrific story.

I give you a lot of credit for being able to cope with that kind of stuff on a day to day basis. It really breaks my heart to hear of all the trauma these children experience in their lives.
I am so glad that it was you that he had to talk too because you are such a sweet gentle person and I am sure you made him feel better.

I am always here anytime you need to talk.

Love,

Hey everyone,

I haven't been posting in a while, but I have been reading and keeping up with you guys.

I talk to Mystic, Mrs.C and Lexy on personal email and of course Mystic and I have just been burning up those phones lines at night. LOL

How is everyone doing? I have experienced some terrible weight gain from the Lexapro and it took all of these months to realize it. 12 pounds creeped up very fast and I was debating getting off of the lex, but my quality of life is so much better on the Lex so I have decided to go on a serious diet and excercise routine and see if I can conquer the weight gain that way.

However I am afraid because I have heard some people that are on SSRI's say that the weight doesn't come off no matter what you do....that scares me.

Has anyone experienced this? Please advice.

Hope all of you are feeling better and that is why the boards are so quiet.

Anxious babe
