> I cheated all weekend. I think there must be some hormonal reason to why I was so famished all of a sudden. I think I'm ovulating, so nature wants me to build a solid nest?

Do you have food that you cheat with in the house? Maybe you could try not buying certain things.
I think I am too, I have been so hungry lately.

> Sugarbusters is a weird diet. For example, carrots are high in the glycemic index, so you aren't supposed to eat carrots. But brown bread is ok. I think there are standards on how unprocessed the bread has to be. I think most fruits are out, but I can see I need to re-read the book since I'm not sure. A couple of my doctors have recommended it now, so I guess it has special value for diabetics.

carrots? interesting. sounds good.
Today and yesterday were a flop, I have not budged on the scale.

I might need to change the diet I'm on a bit. Or brush up on the details. I don't seem to be losing much weight. And I've been pretty good.

In the end, maybe I do need to count calories.

Is there one thing you can identify as a problem in your diet? I would start with cutting that one thing down or getting rid of it completely. Although you may have already done that. Are you excercising? Adding in a nightly walk could help a lot (says, Adrift who should be doing that now!)

Dinah if 3600 calories are a pound. You need to burn this much to lose just one pound. And the average person needs around l200 calories a day to just live. l tsp of butter is l00calories, and apple around the same. And really if you are sticking to your diet you will probably lose 2 pounds of fat a week. Any more is probably water wt. Love Phillipa ps l mile I think is l00calories. Not easy to lose weight.

Was hoping i would have lost a little more by then! I wonder if he will check and see if my cholesterol has gone down at all.

Went to the doc for my weight check-up...

I've only lost 3 pounds since last time (about 6 weeks ago?)

He said that's fine, but i think it sucks. He says I should only be losing 3-4 pounds a month, for good permanant weight loss. According to his scales I weigh 203, but that's with about 5-6 pounds of clothes and shoes (which I weigh myself without at home).

I talked to him about my difficulty sleeping again, and finally something is going to be done about it...

He got me an appointment with a sleep specialist at the end of the month. I could have a number of problems - insomnia, sleep apnea, and possibly narcolepsy.

I don;t know much about narcolepsy, but I do know I used to always have troble keeping my eyes open while studying, and today I fell asleep watching tv....hmm.

Too bad I have to wait till aug. 30th.

I want to weigh 130 pounds by next summer, but I've pretty much figured out that's not gonna happen. If I lose 4 pounds a month for 10 months, I'll only be 163.

pppppfffftttt.

201 and a bit

Not any self control on my part. Just hormones and water weight.

On the other hand, I feel a bit sickish the last couple of days, so maybe that will translate to some actual weight loss.

I'm also a bit tearful and depressed, which always helps me eat less.

I think recent weight is easier to lose. I wonder if there's scientific backup to my observation.

I'm starting my diet again for the zillionth time.

I sort of gave up, but now I want to start up again.

How about if we post what we eat everyday? Who's with me?

Ok I'm game.

Yesterday

Spaghetti and meatballs (hardly any spaghetti)
2 bananas
a few pickles
a pickled egg
a handful of Pringles
a salad (admittedly more crouton than lettuce) with Newmans Own Caesar dressing
2 Dibs handfed by my indulgent husband

I'm afraid to do a weigh in. I'm bloated from PMS and from all that salt.

Way to go for posting what you ate Dinah. I think keeping track of what is eat is very important. It lets us control our eating in an indirect sort of way. Posting it can hold us more accountable.

I'm going to post what I eat too.

Yesterday:

2 large cookies
1 waffle-type cookie (it was really really good, so it must have been
really fattening)
1 Pan-Asian noodle meal from Made in Japan Teriyaki
Doritos
Rich chocolate ice cream
3 large gummy-type candies
Rice
Broccoli
Shrimp

I really have to change my eating as you can see. Today I have a plan and I'm going to follow it.

Instant oatmeal
Sweet peanut rice balls
Instant noodles
1 All Bran bar
1 steamed corn on the cob
Lots of seaweed snacks from Chinatown
1 bowl rice
Some Thai beef

I didn't stick with my plan, except for the oatmeal and All Bran bar. I shouldn't have had the rice balls. Tomorrow I'm going to start weighing my food and counting calories, I hope.
